Michael has more than 25 years of experience in the field of environmental engineering and science. He formerly served as a Branch Chief in the Assessment and Remediation Division of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), where he managed Superfund, Brownfield, Voluntary Evaluation Program, and Uncontrolled sites. His technical experience includes project and resource management (including the revitalization and re-use of sites) complicated by the presence or perceived presence of contamination. He has prepared numerous Environmental Site Assessment reports for multiple clients and has experience with associated activities requiring sampling and analysis, investigation of environmental impacts of proposed public works projects, preparing capital improvement reports for public water supply systems, writing environmental reports and associated activities in regard to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) applicable projects, and providing general consultation related to state and federal regulatory requirements.

Michael has provided management oversight and assistance, including preparation of work products during emergency response actions, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, risk assessments, remedial design and action phases, and operation and maintenance programs. He has also performed environmental assessments and investigations of hazardous waste facilities listed on EPA’s Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System (CERCLIS) list. Michael has also provided technical assistance to NASA and Department of Defense facilities. He is an active member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists and was the recipient of the EPA Region IV’s award for “Excellence in Site Reuse” for his work on the cleanup and redevelopment of a Region IV Superfund site.
