Jay has a background in environmental policy, economics, and law and manages First Environment’s greenhouse gas (GHG) services group, which assists in the development of corporate inventories and emission reduction projects, and performs entity/facility report verifications and offset project validations/verifications. He is responsible for the development of corporate climate change strategies and GHG management programs, as well as technical and financial evaluations of GHG management projects. Within the assurance practice, Mr. Wintergreen specializes in the verification of corporate GHG inventories and has led verification in diverse sectors including energy, manufacturing, media, technology, and financial services, and also serves as an internal reviewer for Climate Action Reserve and ACR project verifications. Jay is an accredited lead verifier of GHG reports for California Air Resources Board’s Mandatory Reporting, Compliance Offset and Low Carbon Fuel Standard programs as well as an approved lead verifier for Oregon’s and Washington’s GHG reporting programs.
