Ernie Pollitzer, PE Joins Our Renewable Energy Services Group
First Environment recently welcomed Ernie Pollitzer, PE, as a full-time employee supporting our renewable energy practice area. Mr. Pollitzer is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in environmental engineering, environmental consulting, and project management of large-scale environmental remediation sites, including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to the BP oil spill) of 2010. Over the past 12 years, Mr. Pollitzer has performed engineering review registrations and quality assurance audits for more than 250 renewable fuel facilities across the county under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program. He has conducted reviews of ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel, and biogas facilities. In addition, he has prepared Separated Municipal Solid Waste Plans for the acceptance of these feedstocks to produce cellulosic biofuels and generate Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs).
Under the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Mr. Pollitzer has performed CA-GREET Carbon Intensity (CI) modeling for several different types of renewable fuel facilities across the country. This modeling work helps facilities determine the value of their CI in order to generate credits under the LCFS program. Mr. Pollitzer is also a certified Lead Verifier in the California LCFS Verification Program and has completed several facility validations required for initial registration in the program.
With his extensive and diverse industry experience, Mr. Pollitzer is a recognized subject matter expert in the renewable fuels industry. He has provided both technical and economic consulting to biofuel producers, biofuel consumers, and investors looking to fund projects or contribute to research in the industry.
Ernie’s specific areas of expertise include the following:
