RCMS Auditor Training and Certification

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the 4 ½ day course and passing of the final exam, First Environment/Verrico will issue a certificate of completion. This certificate is a necessary component of the qualifications needed to become a certified RCMS auditor. Your Instructors:

Your instructors are the leading experts in RC14001 and RCMS. Art Gillen from First Environment has been involved with the Responsible Care® program since its inception in 1986 as an ACC member and in providing consulting services. Brad Verrico from Verrico Associates has trained over 150 auditors in the ACC RC14001 Technical Specification. He wrote much of the RC14001 and RCMS Technical Specification and Guidance Documents.

 

The 4½-Day training course covers the following major topics:

  • Responsible Care® Initiative Overview
  • RCMS Technical Specification and Supporting Documents
  • RCMS Auditing Guidelines: Pre-Audit, Audit and Post-Audit Activities
  • Responsible Care® Certification and how it will work, including:
    • Review of Certification Requirements and Materials;
    • RC Certification Basics;
    • Headquarters versus site Audits; and
    • Audit Reports / Certificates

The training course also includes several interactive workshops and case study exercises.

Workshop Description
This course is designed for those who need assistance in implementing the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® Management System and corresponding RCMS and RC14001 certification options. It is geared for those who are seeking a thorough understanding of these standards and application to their company. In three comprehensive days, our instructors will teach you how to design and implement an effective Responsible Care® management system. Using workshops and practical exercises, this course will provide the tools you need to develop and maintain a management system that can be certified to the RCMS or RC14001 technical specifications.

The 3-Day training workshop covers the following major topics:

  • Linking to the Codes: Key elements of an effective environmental, health & safety management system (EHSMS)
  • The Requirements: RC14001 and RCMS Technical Specifications
  • The Policy: Responsible Care® policy development
  • Risk Assessment: What are RC14001 aspects and impacts and how do they compare to RCMS risk assessment?
  • Planning: Identifying legal and other requirements, setting objectives and developing programs to achieve them
  • Measurement and Review: Monitoring programs, conducting effective internal audits and management review
  • Implementation: Pulling it all together
  • Certification: Explanation of the RC14001 and RCMS certification processes and what RC14001 and RCMS Auditors are looking for
  • Next steps

Brad Verrico from Verrico Associates has trained over 150 auditors in the RC14001 Technical Specification. He wrote much of the RC14001 and RCMS Technical Specification and Guidance documents. Both instructors have also conducted RCMS Auditor Certification Training for ACC.

Training Course Description:

This course meets the prerequisites for ACC auditor certification* in order to conduct Responsible Care® certification audits for the RCMS Technical Specification. It is geared for those who want to become certified RCMS auditors either for third party certification or as internal auditors for ACC Member Companies or Partner organizations. The 4½-day course follows the ACC auditor training requirements and concludes with an exam. Using workshops and practical exercises, this course will provide the tools you need to audit a RCMS at corporate headquarters as well as facilities. This training course is the second offering for RCMS auditors and has been approved by ACC.
