Franchising Division - Financial Institution

The Franchising Division of a large financial institution was providing financial consulting services on loan packaging to the franchiser of a nationwide chain of automobile service centers. Environmental liability issues needed to be satisfactorily addressed as part of the financial consulting services being offered.

First Environment worked with the Franchising Division to reduce the costs and improve the value of the required environmental assessment. We developed an assessment tool whose scope was specifically targeted to the operations of the automobile service centers and evaluated each of the services provided by the facilities, the age and size of the facilities, facility design with regard to water supply, wastewater disposal, underground tanks, lift construction, standard operating procedures, waste handling and disposal practices so as to develop an audit checklist for these centers. Use of this modified format resulted in a cost savings of approximately $100,000 in transaction fees.
