Third Party Verification and Validation

Third party independent verification of GHG management activities provides additional assurance and credibility to corporate inventories, annual reports, or reduction projects, facilitating acceptance and use by stakeholders. Verification is a key step to gaining access to GHG markets and emission credits trading.

We offer a range of verification services, including: executing a “pre-audit” in preparation for an external audit; performing a full-scale validation/verification audit, complete with detailed assessment reports and suggestions for improvement; and emission credit evaluation.

First Environment is accredited by ANSI under ISO 14065:2007 and ISO 14064-3:2006 and GHG-PR-706 for the following Project Level Groups

1 – GHG emission reductions from fuel combustion

  • Renewable Energy Production: (hydropower, biomass energy, biomass fuels, geothermal power, solar power, wind energy, fuel cell)
  • Energy Efficiency Improvements: (fuel switching, waste heat recovery, cogeneration)
  • Transportation

3 – Land Use and Forestry

  • Sequestration of carbon due to afforestation, avoided deforestation, sustainable forest management, forest products)
  • Soil carbon sequestration (no-till, grass cover)

5 – Livestock

  • Methane Collection and Destruction
  • Livestock and other anaerobic digester operations
  • Agricultural methane emission reduction
  • Agricultural carbon emission reduction

6 – Waste Handling and Disposal

  • Capture and destruction of Landfill gas
  • Capture and use of Landfill gas (biodigestion, aerobic treatment)
  • Methane recovery in wastewater treatment
  • Avoidance of methane production in wastewater treatment
  • Coal mine methane

Technical Assistance & Consulting Services

First Environment assists clients in a range of industries – including power generation, oil and gas, waste management, and forestry products – with GHG management. Our technical support and consulting services are tailored to the specific needs of our clients. Some clients may need an internal protocol, training on data collection and GHG inventory, or assistance in setting their inventory boundaries.

Others may need support in writing a climate change policy, or identifying ineffective portions of their current policy. Whatever the conditions, First Environment’s understanding of the technical aspects of climate change data control facilitates the process. Once organized, our clients can accurately manage their records in order to pursue emission trading and other GHG opportunities.
